Assists with property acquisition, relocation and disposition activities.
Position Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm
Salary: $19.89/hour to Commensurate
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, physical examination (if applicable) and drug screen are required prior to employment with the City of Cedar Rapids.
Examples of Essential Duties:
- Research property title, platting, easements, and other property interests
- Prepare and coordinate deeds and closing statements
- Coordinate with Legal and outside entities to review deeds, abstracts, title opinions, and certificates of title
- Resolve title matters involving the quality of title clearing of liens and judgements and documents on property to be acquired
- Administer condemnation process; schedule and serve notice for eminent domain hearings
- Create, maintain and review parcel files
- Create transaction and city council public hearing or approval documents; assist with notice issuance letters; track progress of transactions
- Assist with maintaining division’s record keeping and reporting systems using project management software
- Assist with securing temporary easements, right of entry agreements or supplemental agreements from property owners; relocation activities; and consultant coordination
- Respond to information requests and citizen questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner
- Performs related work as required
Required Education and Experience
- Associate's Degree in related field and
- One to three years of full-time experience in real estate sales, closings or title clearance or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
