About the Position
The reporting location can be designated as CAP Headquarters in North Phoenix or the CAP Tucson Field Office. As a Roving Electrician, you would perform as an electrical multi-craft journeyman with local pumping plant operations responsibility in a heavy industrial hydroelectric environment consisting of up to 60,000 horsepower vertical, synchronous pumping and generating units and supporting auxiliary equipment such as: control valves (up to 132-inch), compressors, bridge cranes, governors, heat exchangers, strainers, trash rakes, radial gates, piping and hydraulic systems. You would perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on a wide variety of high, medium and low voltage electrical systems requiring proficiency in: rotating machinery, power circuit breakers, power transformers, protective relays, electronic control systems as well as various predictive test techniques and procedures. You would operate, configure, isolate, troubleshoot and return to service large pumping and generating plants or other related facilities and systems. You would performs switching operations and holds clearance orders to provide safe working boundaries or zones of equipment isolation from sources of hazardous energy.
This position is subject to call-outs to a variety of operational emergencies on and off hours. Work assignments are primarily at pumping plants and other system facilities throughout the state. Extensive in-state travel primarily Mondays through Thursdays is required.
About the Qualifications
Having completed a state or federal certified electrical apprenticeship: OR possessing the equivalent combination of education, related experience and demonstrated ability; PLUS at least three (3) years of journeyman-level work experience in an industrial electrical environment with technical and specialized knowledge is required to be successful in this position. Also, a valid driver's license, good driving record, and a high school diploma (or GED) are required.
